About the role
The Structural Project Engineer (Licensed NY PE) will perform structural design and analysis, prepare calculation packages, technical specifications, and design documentation. They will also produce construction drawings, details, specifications, and design deliverables, conduct site visits, perform structural assessments, retrofit/rehabilitation/repair designs, and forensic investigations. Additionally, they will collaborate with architects, MEP, geotechnical, civil, and other disciplines to integrate structural design requirements.
Responsibilities
- Aid or lead project scope definition, scheduling, resource planning, and budgeting
- Act as client technical liaison, attend client meetings, and present design decisions
- Collaborate with internal engineering resources, delegate tasks, and mentor less experienced engineers
- Participate in proposals, estimates, technical write-ups, and business development
- Track and report progress, anticipate risks, and develop mitigation strategies
Qualifications for Success
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in New York
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s degree strongly preferred)
- Proven experience (3-6+ years) in structural engineering design, calculations, drawings, and analysis in a consulting/design office environment
- Advanced proficiency with structural analysis and design software
- Experience with Revit or similar modeling software is highly desirable
- Strong technical writing skills (reports, memos, calculations)
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and ability to collaborate across disciplines
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines
- Willingness to travel to job sites (as needed)
