Structural Project Engineer - Healthcare Specialist

About the role

MHP Structural Engineers is seeking a Structural Project Engineer level 1 - 3 with strong healthcare project experience (HCAI and other jurisdictions) to join our Long Beach office.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support structural engineering design for healthcare, including: SPC 4d, NPC 4d and NPC 5 Design Projects
• Healthcare tenant improvements and central plant upgrades
• Healthcare Non-structural component anchorage
• Design of Ground Up Healthcare Facilities
• Manage projects from conceptual design through construction administration
• Prepare and review calculations, drawings, and technical specifications
• Cook up and review calculations, drawings, and technical specifications
• Coordinate with architects, contractors, and regulatory agencies
• Support proposal development and client-facing project discussions
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
• QC of junior engineers calculations and drawings
• Work toward progression into a Project Manager role

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering (Structural emphasis), or Structural Engineering
• California P.E. license required; active pursuit of California S.E. licensure is strongly encouraged
• 6+ years of structural engineering experience
• Strong experience with healthcare (HCAI) projects required
• Proficiency in structural design of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber systems
• Strong understanding of CBC (including A-chapters) and ASCE 7-22
• Interest in pursuing California S.E. licensure mandatory
• Strong communication skills and desire to take on leadership responsibility
