Responsibilities

  • Lead and refine protective design analyses, including blast effects, impact, and progressive collapse considerations.
  • Develop and organize deliverables such as calculations, reports, and drawings, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with project goals and threat conditions.
  • Cook up and coordinate proactively with architects, engineers, and security stakeholders to support integration of protective strategies into project designs.
  • Review and provide feedback on junior staff work, supporting their technical development.
  • Contribute to risk and vulnerability assessments and assist in translating findings into implementable design solutions.
  • Grow your leadership skills by assisting with project management activities, contributing to proposals, and engaging in client-facing opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.
  • 4+ years of structural engineering experience with proficiency in analysis and modeling tools and growing experience in protective design or resilience-focused projects.
  • Ability to solve complex problems, manage priorities, and communicate effectively across disciplines.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

Pay

The rate for this position generally is $90,000 - $115,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the Illinois State Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful Illinois State applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in Illinois State or perform the position from Illinois State. Similar positions located outside of Illinois State will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by Illinois Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law.
