The responsibilities also include reviewing and checking rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data, leading discussions on technical issues, directing the verification/validation of final structural design drawings, generating reports on work progress, and performing studies on new offshore structures.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and checks rough sketches, drawings, specifications and other engineering data received from team members on basic structural design using engineering common network, software and tools
- Leads discussion with team and other engineering team members (i.e. stability & mooring, general design and weight control), including subcontractors and consultants on technical issues and design solutions
- Directs team responsible for verification/ validation of final Structural design drawings for the execution of Structural fabrication and construction in the EPCC projects
- Liaises with owners, statutory and classification authorities for design compliance review and approval on the proposed project plans in meeting project requirements
- Generates reports on work progress and submits to senior team members for review and approval before submitting to owners, statutory and classification authorities for approval
- Directs team’s progress in delivering Structural requirements for all projects from conceptual front-end engineering design (FEED) to detailed engineering activities
- Independently performs studies on a new range of offshore structures and vessels, analysing the basic structure design suitability to meet their operational needs and environment setting (i.e. near shore, shallow water, mid water and etc.)
- Checks design calculation (i.e. longitudinal and hull strength scantling, steel materials and etc.) prepared by team members based on standard engineering techniques, practices and fundamentals in specific situations for data adjustments and correlations
- Independently formulates welding plans, specifications, drawings and sequences for joints and structural members, including main structure NDT Plan, structural tank test plan, structural categorisation and etc.
