About the role

Our multidisciplinary team brings extensive expertise in sustainability, decarbonization, building code, fire safety, resiliency, indoor environmental quality, and inspections. We support building owners, investors, and tenants through every phase of a building's lifecycle from construction and acquisition through upgrades and renovation to disposition.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct structural special inspections in accordance with the NYC Building Code and DOB requirements, focusing on: Structural Bolting & Welding Inspections, Cast-In-Place Concrete (Reinforcing Steel) Inspections, Structural Masonry Inspections.
  • Monitor and document field installations for compliance with approved construction documents and relevant standards.
  • Generate clear and accurate daily inspection reports detailing site observations, test data, non-conformance issues, and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with contractors, site supervisors, and design professionals to address field conditions and resolve compliance issues.
  • Attend job site meetings and maintain effective communication with project teams and internal technical staff.
  • Assist in preparing Technical Reports for Structural Special Inspections for DOB submissions.
  • Support quality assurance efforts and maintain proper records for audit and regulatory review.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of structural field experience, including special inspections and project closeouts.
  • ICC Welding & Bolting or CWI certification; ICC and/or ACI certifications in CCIP, Masonry, Post-Installed Anchors.
  • Familiarity with NYC Structural Code, and DOB protocols.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and installation specifications.
  • Strong written communication skills for reporting and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple job sites with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Preferred Certifications: OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification, Knowledge of or experience with DOB NOW and TR1/TR8 processes, ACI and ICC certifications or coursework.
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.

Skills

The ideal candidate should have multiple years of hands-on experience in structural field inspections or structural installations, with strong knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and inspection procedures.
