About the role
The Forensic Structural Engineer will investigate failures related to building structures, focusing on the laws of physics and engineering principles. This role involves hands-on fieldwork, testing, and technical research, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving and detail-oriented work.
Responsibilities
- Complete hands-on failure analysis assignments in the field and testing facility
- Document facts and finalize findings
- Conduct technical research
- Apply theories and knowledge to real-world situations
- Work on time as requested by clients
- Practice ethical standards consistently
- Communicate complex issues clearly to non-engineering audiences through report writing
Requirements
- Master's or Ph.D. in civil engineering
- 5 years of supervisory or project management experience
- Licensed Professional Engineer
- Valid driver’s license in good standing
- Ability to pass a background check

Schedule
This is a full-time position with some flexibility in hours permitted. The employee must be available during standard work hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Physical Demands
This position involves a combination of fieldwork, travel-related work, and sedentary work. An employee is regularly required to drive, stand, sit, walk, reach, type, talk, hear, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, push, pull, carry, and lift up to 50 pounds. They may also be required to traverse wooded and/or uneven terrain, enter structures, use ladders, walk on roofs, enter small spaces, and work in various weather conditions.
Travel
Regular travel will be required as part of the Structural Forensic Engineer job. Some overnight travel may be necessary.
