About the role

Join our team as a Structural Fitter, where you'll be at the forefront of crafting precision parts according to shop drawings and industry standards. Your role will involve meticulously laying out and assembling fabricated components, ensuring they meet the exact specifications outlined by AISC and AWS. Safety is paramount in this position, as any lapses in performing essential duties could pose risks to our team and the wider community.

Responsibilities

  • Layout and assembly of fabricated parts in accordance with shop drawings using AISC and AWS standards.
  • Lay out, position, align, and fit together fabricated parts of structural metal products in the shop, according to blueprint and layout specifications, preparatory to welding or riveting.
  • Locate and mark centerline and reference points onto floor or face block and transpose them to work piece.
  • Move parts into position, manually or by hoist/overhead crane.
  • Align parts and make ready for final assembly.
  • Adhere to all company safety and OSHA regulations.
  • The ability to work overtime and regular, punctual attendance is required.
  • Perform non-essential duties as needed.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent with a certificate from Vo-Tech or Trade school in mechanics.
  • Must be able to fit most structural steel including beams, columns, braces, and simple frames.
  • Must have ability to pass Class B welding test which may include 1G FCAW, 3G FCAW, 4G FCAW, 1G SMAW, 3G SMAW, 4G SMAW, and 1G SAW.
  • Excellent math skills required.
  • Ability to pass a tape measure test is required.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds frequently.
  • Requires excessive bending, stooping, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, and bending.
  • Exposure to temperature fluctuations and noisy work environment.
  • Considerable amounts of overtime and weekend work required.
  • All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
  • This role is classified as safety sensitive. Candidates must show the capacity to proactively initiate, effectively lead, and consistently uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Pay

$17-$28/hr, paid weekly.
