Structural Engineering Professional Intermediate
This is a 5-month contract position located in Moon Township, PA, with the potential for extensions. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and able to sit on Primary Talent Partners' W2 without sponsorship.
About the Role
As a Structural Engineering Professional, you will be an integral member of the design team, assisting in Structural analysis and design for projects. You will collaborate closely with your Structural Lead, Structural Engineers, Designers, and other disciplines to develop design concepts, complete analysis and design, and communicate structural requirements on design documents and in the model. Responsibilities
- Competently perform all conventional aspects of Structural Engineering analysis and design under general supervision.
- Develop judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria with guidance.
- Build engineering judgment and problem-solving skills, seeking guidance when needed.
- Develop knowledge of lateral analysis and design principles (wind and seismic), including applying building code provisions.
- Maintain a high level of attention to detail and quality control.
- Check your own work and seek peer or senior guidance when questions arise.
- Perform calculation checking of other engineers' work.
- Manage your workload, meet commitments, and take ownership of assigned tasks.
- Take responsibility for your portion of the structural scope, ensuring it meets schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
- Handle tasks with ill-defined conditions by determining project and client needs proactively.
- Define your scope and forecast the effort required to complete it.
- Identify and escalate scope changes to your Structural Lead.
- Recognize when help is needed and seek guidance from peers and senior engineers.
- Work in a timely, accurate, and cost-effective manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with an emphasis in Structural Engineering.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in structural engineering.
- Experience with US building codes including IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and AISC.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- MS degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Structural Engineering or MS degree in Structural Engineering.
- Experience with Structural Engineering analysis software such as STAAD, Navisworks, and Bluebeam.
- Experience designing and analyzing traditional steel and concrete structures.
- Experience in semi-conductor industrial or general industrial facilities.
Working Conditions
- Able to perform field walks, which may occasionally include climbing ladders, crawling under raised access floors, or walking/standing for extended periods.
- This is a hybrid/remote position, requiring you to work from the nearest local office or your home in the USA Northeast Region (CT, IA, IL, IN, MA, ME, MI, MN, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SD, VT, WI).
Pay
$42.00 - $52.00/hour (W2 contract).
