About the role
Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Greenwood Village, CO, Tulsa, OK, Richmond, VA, or Chattanooga, TN office. Merrick’s Summer Internship Program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they’re learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.
Responsibilities
- Structural analysis using computer finite element analysis
- Structural steel design
- Foundation design
- Concrete design
- Analysis of existing structures
- Exposure to AISC, ASCE, and ACI codes and standards
- Exposure to drawing creation using AutoCAD or REVIT
- Engineering quality assurance procedures
- Collaboration with other disciplines
- Ability to interface with clients and contractors
- Follow schedules and budget commitments
- Work independently
- Possess good written and oral communication skills
- Ability to solve problems
Requirements
- Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible
- Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program
- Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of an undergraduate degree, or currently enrolled in grad school
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
Skills
- Previous internship in Structural Engineering (desired)
- Experience with or exposure to AutoCAD or REVIT (desired)
- Local candidates preferred (desired)
