Structural Engineering Intern

About the role

Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Greenwood Village, CO, Tulsa, OK, Richmond, VA, or Chattanooga, TN, office. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.

What You'll Do

• Gain technical experience and exposure to a variety of structural engineering in an industrial setting, including:
  • Structural analysis using computer finite element analysis
  • Structural steel design, foundation design, and concrete design
  • Analysis of existing structures
  • Exposure to AISC, ASCE, and ACI codes and standards
  • Exposure to drawing creation using AutoCAD or REVIT
  • Engineering quality assurance procedures
• Collaborate with other disciplines
• Interface with clients and contractors
• Follow schedules and budget commitments
• Work independently
• Possess good written and oral communication skills
• Solve problems

Required Qualifications

• Graduation date after August 2027
• Pursuing an engineering degree in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program
• Currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of an undergraduate degree, or currently enrolled in grad school
• Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship

Desired Qualifications

• Previous internship in Structural Engineering
• Experience with or exposure to AutoCAD or REVIT
• Local candidates preferred
