About the role
Merrick & Company is seeking a college or graduate school Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering student for a paid summer internship for Summer 2027 at our Greenwood Village, CO, Tulsa, OK, Richmond, VA, or Chattanooga, TN, office. The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.
What You'll Do
- Gain technical experience and exposure to a variety of structural engineering in an industrial setting, including:
- Structural analysis using computer finite element analysis
- Structural steel design, foundation design, and concrete design
- Analysis of existing structures
- Exposure to AISC, ASCE, and ACI codes and standards
- Exposure to drawing creation using AutoCAD or REVIT
- Engineering quality assurance procedures
- Collaborate with other disciplines
- Interface with clients and contractors
- Follow schedules and budget commitments
- Work independently
- Possess good written and oral communication skills
- Solve problems
Required Qualifications
- Graduation date after August 2027
- Pursuing an engineering degree in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program
- Currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of an undergraduate degree, or currently enrolled in grad school
- Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
Desired Qualifications
- Previous internship in Structural Engineering
- Experience with or exposure to AutoCAD or REVIT
- Local candidates preferred
