About the role
Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a civil engineer with structural engineering coursework to join our Tampa, FL office.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the conceptual development and design of waterfront structural projects across various industries including container shipping, defense, bulk material handling, oil and gas, and marinas
- Performs structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, and timber structures
- Analyzes static and dynamic loading on laterally performing structures, including the impact of soil-structure interaction
- Develops finite element models of marine structures using software such as SAP2000 or similar
- Prepares calculations and documents information for completed designs
- Creates and develops structural drawings with engineers and drafters
- Performs site visits and inspections of existing structures to evaluate existing conditions and prepares condition assessment reports
- Affords support during construction administration including periodic site visits and review of shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals
- Supports quantity takeoffs for construction cost estimating
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with Structural coursework
- Master of Science in Civil Engineering with Structural emphasis strongly preferred
- Entry level to 2+ years of experience
- Previous experience or internship/cooperative education in heavy civil, structural, or marine/waterfront design is strongly preferred
- Engineer In Training certification
- Familiarity with AutoCAD or a comparable drafting platform
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as SAP2000 or a comparable equivalent
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
Qualifications
