Structural Engineer – Transportation
About the role
Stantec is seeking a transportation Structural Engineer with minimum of 5 years of experience in design of new transportation structures with a focus on highway, transit and rail structures including High Speed Rail.
Responsibilities
- Uses knowledge of relevant structural engineering for transportation structures.
- Preparing design drawings, calculations, and details for various transportation projects.
- Design of new transportation structures and rehabilitation of existing transportation structures with close coordination with other disciplines.
- Review of shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers, calculations performed by other engineers, coordinate with design team, site visits to address site issues and verify existing conditions, respond to request for information, oversee testing and monitoring programs.
- Aid in client coordination including coordinating deliveries, submittals, meetings, review comments etc.

Requirements
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in the State of California.
- Proficient in concrete (including precast and prestressed), steel, masonry and wood/timber design.
- Proficiency in Structural Analysis with SAP2000, CSiBridge, Midas Civil or similar software.
- Strong background preparing structural design calculations and plans per Caltrans Design Standards.
- Thorough understanding of design codes and agency standards such as ACI, AASHTO, REMA, AISC, AWC, Timber NDS, , Caltrans Design Standards, and CBC-IBC.
- Previous experience on DOD, NAVFAC or ACOE experience a plus.
- Previous experience with California High Speed Rail a definite plus but not necessary.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
- Master's degree is a plus.
- 5+ years’ experience in engineering design and design check.
- Autodesk and Bentley BIM Experience a plus.
