About the role

SAFEbuilt is seeking a dynamic individual to join our team as a Building Official. This position will be responsible for overseeing building inspections, ensuring compliance with local building codes, and providing technical guidance to developers and contractors.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee building inspections to ensure compliance with local building codes and standards.
  • Provide technical guidance to developers and contractors on building code requirements and best practices.
  • Review construction plans and permits to ensure they meet local building codes and regulations.
  • Conduct code enforcement activities to address non-compliance issues and ensure safety and quality of construction projects.
  • Communicate with stakeholders, including developers, contractors, and the public, to explain building codes and regulations.
  • Participate in meetings and committees related to building code updates and improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in building inspection or related field.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Qualifications

  • Experience with building permit processing and plan review.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of sustainable building practices and green building certifications.

Pay

Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
