Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Structural Engineer for our Portland, OR office. The position focuses on structural design and analysis of environmental structures such as low-rise industrial buildings, pump stations, process basins, and treatment facilities.

About the role

The selected individual will lead structural design and construction administration responsibilities for major projects involving upgrades to wastewater, water, and reclaimed water treatment plants.

Responsibilities

  • Computer-aided design using STAAD, RISA, or TEKLA Structures
  • Full structural design per governing building codes and standards (ACI, AISC, ASCE)
  • Construction management tasks, including shop drawing reviews and field inspections
  • Collaborate effectively in a multi-discipline team environment
  • Local travel for site reconnaissance, condition assessments, and structural observations

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience
  • BS or MS degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural concentration from an ABET-accredited institution
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license; Structural Engineering (SE) license preferred or ability to obtain in Oregon or Washington
  • Experience in design and construction of reinforced concrete, steel, reinforced masonry, and/or structural aluminum
  • Experience with water and wastewater treatment plant structural design or industrial structural design is preferred but not required
