Responsibilities
- Perform inspections per NBIS and NTIS standards serving as a Team Leader
- Assist in the scheduling of traffic closures, coordination of bridge inspection equipment rentals, and coordination with DOT personnel for scheduling and access to bridge structures
- Aid in the completion and checking of bridge inspection reports and timely submission and reporting to respective DOTs
- Assist with bridge design and rehabilitation projects – performing design calculations, estimates, and specifications
- Assist with bridge rating calculations and reports
- Lead inspection teams in the field and be responsible for identifying and reporting action items to DOT
- Assist in scheduling the inspection work including coordinating with the DOT for roadway closures and access, and scheduling equipment rentals
- Aid inspection team members in preparation of tunnel inspection reports and element level quantities
- Perform field work to identify defects, generate repair recommendations, and prepare design documents for the recommended work
Requirements
- Bachelor of Engineering degree
- Substantial years of professional project experience on bridge and/or tunnel inspection and design
- Qualified NBIS team leader for bridge and tunnel inspections
- Prior completion of FHWA-NHI two week course (Safety Inspection of In-service Bridges)
- Prior completion of FHWA-NHI tunnel inspection course (Tunnel Safety Inspection)
- Experience performing NBIS inspection of various types of bridges
- Active Professional Engineer’s License (PE)
- AASHTO BrR and BrM experience (or similar, such as PONTIS or MassDOT 4D)
- Solid understanding of and practical experience applying the AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications to transportation structures
- Completion of FHWA-NHI-130078 Fracture Critical Inspection Techniques for Steel Bridges
- Demonstrated knowledge of structural design/analysis programs
- OSHA Confined Space Entry Training (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146)
Qualifications

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $103,600.00 to $140,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
