About the role
The Ash Group is hiring a Structural Engineer III for our client, a major electricity and natural gas utility provider. This is a 12-month contract working in Plano, TX (Onsite).
Responsibilities
- Design metallic and composite structures for advanced mission payloads and aircraft.
- Conduct static and dynamic analyses using SolidWorks, Catia, and FEA tools such as MSC Patran, Nastran, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
- Perform fatigue and damage tolerance analyses with NASGRO or AFGROW.
- Author substantiation reports and documentation for design validation.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate design and development requirements.
- Apply classical hand calculation methods for structural analysis.
- Select materials and hardware, considering manufacturing and production processes.
- Utilize parametric and model‑based design principles to optimize performance.
- Evaluate and certify product lifecycle from concept to production.
- Assist in product development and process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- 5+ or more years of relevant engineering experience.
- Must have aerospace, airframe, and structure analysis using SolidWorks/Catia and 3D tools.
- Must have experience working with static and dynamic analysis, and FEA tools such as MSC Patran, Nastran, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
- Knowledge of Computer Aided Engineering tools.
- Experience in static and dynamic analyses.
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary design and development teams.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with FEA tools such as MSC Patran, Nastran, FEMAP, or ANSYS.
- Experience performing fatigue and damage tolerance analysis using NASGRO or AFGROW.
- Ability to perform classical analysis using industry‑standard hand calculation methods.
- Knowledge of industry‑standard mechanical design principles, including parametric design, model‑based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes.
- Ability to author substantiation reports.
- Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
Pay
Up to $59 per hour W2 based on skill set.
