Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with site personnel at PNP and members of Holtec’s Corporate Engineering Center (CEC) to implement and support plant design changes.
- Perform structural and mechanical analyses in accordance with plant design basis requirements and applicable nuclear industry codes and standards.
- Prepare detailed technical reports, engineering evaluations, and design documentation to support plant modifications and operational needs.
- Review engineering drawings, calculations, and other technical deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Support responses to regulatory inquiries and participate in ensuring adherence to licensing and safety requirements.
- Investigate and resolve emergent engineering issues impacting plant systems, structures, and components.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across Holtec to support ongoing engineering activities.
- Provide additional engineering support to Holtec’s Nuclear Power Division (NPD) and Small Modular Reactor (SMR) Division as needed.
Minimum Technical Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in designing and analyzing reinforced concrete and/or fabricated metal structures
- Knowledge of numerical analysis methods (e.g., finite element analysis)
- Capable of reading shop/fabrication, assembly, and structural drawings
- Display creative thinking and analytical skills to resolve design issues effectively
- Excellent technical writing and communication skills
Desirable Additional Qualifications
- 1-3 years of professional experience in engineering related field
- Prior experience in nuclear industry
- Knowledge of structural design codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AISC, ACI, ASCE)
- Experience using ANSYS Workbench, STAAD.Pro and/or LS-DYNA software
- Knowledge of material failure mechanisms such as fatigue, brittle fracture, and creep
- Knowledge of earthquake engineering and/or experience with seismic analysis methods
