Structural Engineer (Entry Level)

About the role

Join Garver’s Water Design Center (WDC) in Greenville, SC, as an Entry-Level Structural Engineer. You’ll be part of a project team producing structural designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, and other ancillary infrastructure. The role involves structural layout, design calculations, coordination with BIM structural designers, and quality reviews. Occasional travel is required for site assessments and construction support.

Responsibilities

• Produce structural designs for clarifiers, process basins, filters, admin buildings, pump stations, lift stations, tanks, vaults, retaining walls, and other ancillary structures associated with water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
• Develop complex finite element models to analyze various structures.
• Complete structural design calculations for concrete, steel, aluminum, and masonry.
• Oversee the development of construction drawings and 3D models while coordinating between various disciplines.
• Prepare construction cost estimates.
• Coordinate with geotechnical subconsultants.
• Support construction projects by reviewing submittals and conducting site visits.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 0-1 year of structural design experience.
• Engineer In Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain it within 6 months.
• Basic understanding of structural engineering design with concrete and structural steel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering.
• Understanding of structural complexities associated with water and wastewater treatment equipment.
• Familiarity with Autodesk Revit.
• Experience using Bluebeam.
• Experience working with a diverse disciplinary team, including process, civil, building mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation and control disciplines.
