About the role
Contribute to the design, analysis, and documentation of new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the structural design and documentation of new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse projects.
- Prepare structural calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports for a variety of building types and structural systems.
- Perform structural analysis and design under supervision using computer software and hand calculations.
- Participate in site visits, structural assessments, and construction administration activities.
- Collaborate with architects, contractors, owners, and other design professionals throughout project development.
- Contribute to projects utilizing steel, concrete, masonry, timber, and cold formed steel structural systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Master's degree is a plus.
- 1 to 3 years of professional structural engineering experience.
- EIT certification or ability to obtain shortly after hire preferred.
- Experience preparing construction documents and structural calculations.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit, including preparation of plans, details, and incorporation of project markups.
- Experience with steel and concrete design. Experience with wood, masonry, or cold formed steel design is a plus.
- Familiarity with mixed use developments, renovation projects, and existing structures is a plus.
- Familiarity with structural analysis and drafting software such as RISA 3D, Tekla Tedds, RAM, SAP2000, ETABS, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to engage in a variety of projects, take on new challenges, and learn new skills.
- Desire to approach design from a holistic and multidisciplinary mindset.
