Structural Engineer

About the role

Stantec's Rochester office is seeking a Structural Engineer to support engineering teams on large infrastructure design projects and pursuits in the New York City Metropolitan area.

Responsibilities

• Support pursuit teams for large APD opportunities within the New York City Metropolitan area.
• Affiliate with the Design Manager to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams from design development through construction services on projects using Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build methods.
• Work with the Design Manager to review design deliverables for multi-disciplinary coordination based on client standards and requirements.
• Develop project design deliverables including design criteria, contract design documents, design specifications, quantities and related calculations for various design projects under Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build environments.
• Perform calculations independently using relevant bridge analysis and design software.
• Help resolve complex technical problems and exercise independent decision making.
• Perform construction phase services on behalf of the Designer of Record.
• Coordinate with clients including coordinating deliveries, submittals, meetings, review comments etc.
• Affiliate with the preparation of proposals and presentations on various pursuits, including large Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build pursuits within the New York City Metropolitan area.

Requirements

• Licensed Professional Engineer license in the State of NY.
• Proficiency in software such as STAAD, SAP, RISA, PCA Structure Point Suite, and similar.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, OpenBuildings and/Autodesk Construction Cloud, and MicroStation.
• Proficient knowledge of structural design codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
• Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Experience with agencies such as MTA, PANYNJ, NJ Transit, Amtrak or other public agencies is desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Minimum 7 years of experience in structural design.
