About the role
Stantec's Rochester office is seeking a Structural Engineer to support engineering teams on large infrastructure design projects and pursuits in the New York City Metropolitan area.
Responsibilities
- Support pursuit teams for large APD opportunities within the New York City Metropolitan area.
- Affiliate with the Design Manager to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams from design development through construction services on projects using Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build methods.
- Work with the Design Manager to review design deliverables for multi-disciplinary coordination based on client standards and requirements.
- Develop project design deliverables including design criteria, contract design documents, design specifications, quantities and related calculations for various design projects under Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build environments.
- Perform calculations independently using relevant bridge analysis and design software.
- Help resolve complex technical problems and exercise independent decision making.
- Perform construction phase services on behalf of the Designer of Record.
- Coordinate with clients including coordinating deliveries, submittals, meetings, review comments etc.
- Affiliate with the preparation of proposals and presentations on various pursuits, including large Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build pursuits within the New York City Metropolitan area.
Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer license in the State of NY.
- Proficiency in software such as STAAD, SAP, RISA, PCA Structure Point Suite, and similar.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, OpenBuildings and/Autodesk Construction Cloud, and MicroStation.
- Proficient knowledge of structural design codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with agencies such as MTA, PANYNJ, NJ Transit, Amtrak or other public agencies is desired.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 7 years of experience in structural design.
