Clearance: Secret (must be willing and able to obtain an active DOD Secret Clearance within a reasonable timeframe as determined by the program)
About the role
We are seeking a Structural Engineer to join a dynamic team performing structural analysis on launch vehicles and missiles within the Mechanical and Energetics department.
Responsibilities
- Performs structural analysis on launch vehicle and ground support components.
- Analyzes damage tolerance, durability, design allowables, and structural modeling.
- Utilizes specific structural engineering specialties which may include dynamics and loads, stability, stress fatigue, and thermal analysis.
- Works with tools including NX CAD software and FEA.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 1 year of experience.
- Strong structural analysis background with demonstrated work experience and knowledge.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and structural analysis.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency with standard word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Ability to listen effectively, take direction, and have the initiative to accomplish assigned tasks and complete work in a timely fashion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Active DOD Secret Clearance.
- MS or PhD in a related field.
- Experience working with high performance flight structures.
- Experience with FEMAP, NX NASTRAN finite element analysis software.
- Experience with ANSYS, ABAQUS, and other software packages.
- Research and experience working with high temperatures and their effects in structural mechanics.
- Experience with thermal loading, advanced high temperature materials, structural responses, and development testing.
- Working knowledge of CMC material systems.
- Experience with scripting and AI use in fields of engineering and data sciences.
- Nonlinear analysis skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
