Technical

  • Assists in collecting data and gathering information or documents for projects with guidance.
  • Performs standard computations or analysis.
  • Aids in preparing drawings and visual aids with guidance.
  • Supports construction activities with guidance.

Project Management

  • Reviews individual weekly project staffing reports.
  • Understands tasks and roles assigned to you on a project.
  • Communicates with the internal project team and senior leaders as needed.
  • Limited communication with external design teams based on project scope.
  • Communicates with senior leaders when the scope, complexity, or duration of tasks changes.
  • Manages personal time to deliver on all project tasks assigned and communicates with respective project managers when there are conflicts or competing schedule demands.
  • Increases understanding of QA/QC protocols for tasks you are responsible for.
  • Increases understanding of client service expectations.
  • Increases understanding of key financial performance indicators for successful project completion, including on-time and on-budget objectives.
  • Attends meetings with senior engineers to discuss active projects.
  • Manages Level I projects.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides feedback to operational procedures to improve efficiency.
  • Gains understanding of organizational risks associated with technical design items.
  • Develops Engineering and Drawing Standard Operating Procedures with guidance.
  • Participates in hiring interviews as needed.
  • Trains new hires and provides guidance to Structural Designer I staff.
  • Participates in the performance review/feedback process.
  • Assists with preparing for presentations internally and externally.
  • Develops basic understanding of meaningful strategic relationships.
  • Understands how the role fits into the larger strategic plan of the organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • B.S. and/or M.S. Degree in Civil / Structural Engineering or M.S. Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • 8 years of related experience or 1+ years working in the field of structural engineering.
  • Engineer in Training license.
  • LEED AP encouraged.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Embraces life-long learning, stays current with industry trends.
  • Interacts in a fun and collaborative way with staff, general public, officials, and contractors.
  • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Assists with client, customer, or official contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings.
  • Possesses basic understanding of Enercalc, Bluebeam, Risa 3D, Google Suite, and Deltek VP.
  • Gains exposure to Risa Floor and Risa Connection.
  • Ability to use MS Office products.
  • Member of SEAONC or industry-related organization encouraged.
  • Engaged in outreach activities with community service organizations.
  • Ability to travel to other locations to work on projects as needed.
  • Analytical and critical problem-solving skills.
