Structural Designer
About the role
We perform detailed design of new utility structures, including transmission lines and substations. This involves creating design documents, technical specifications, and preparing drawings for utility projects.
Responsibilities
- Create design documents and technical specifications for utility projects.
- Prepare structural drawings for utility structures such as reinforced concrete, steel, and masonry components like substation equipment supports, foundations, control buildings, transmission line structures/load trees, etc.
- Assist in file management tasks including project documentation, scoping documents, design input documentation, quality check lists, and project filing.
- Manage the quality review process for your projects.
- Affirm compliance with company and industry standards in design drawings.
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with senior-level designers and engineers to resolve design issues.
Requirements
- A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in design & drafting.
- 3+ years of experience with structural design.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD or MicroStation.
- Experience with Advanced Steel is preferred.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a keen eye for quality.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the overall design process.
- Familiarity with industry standards for reinforced concrete, steel design, welded and bolted steel connections, foundation details, etc.

- Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Advanced Steel).
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
