About the Role
HGA is seeking a Structural Designer for a direct-hire role in our Woodlands, TX office, responsible for supporting civil, structural, and architectural design, drafting, and project delivery across multiple projects.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of the CSA Lead Engineer.
- Understand project scope and seek clarification as needed.
- Understand and support structural drawing package deliverables.
- Maintain work within assigned budget hours.
- Perform field work to identify:
- Existing foundation and structural steel conditions.
- Equipment layouts and clearances.
- Pipe rack and pipe support locations.
- Spare structural connection points and other structural field conditions.
- Prepare structural AutoCAD drawings, including foundations, structural steel framing, and connection details.
- Ensure company and/or client drafting standards and structural design practices are followed.
- Communicate needs, delays, or issues to the Lead Engineer.
- Review and interpret vendor drawings related to structural scope.
- Check all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.
- Complete work efficiently to support project deadlines.
- Provide engineering/design support tasks including:
- Assembling document packages.
- Making copies.
- Converting .dwg files to PDFs.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Proficient in AutoCAD 2019 or higher.
- Proficient in AutoCAD 3D modeling.
- Experience with structural steel and foundation design strongly preferred.
- General knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), ASCE, AISC, and other applicable structural design standards.
- Extensive knowledge of CAD and structural engineering design software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word (Access is a plus).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to interface with clients as needed.
- Strong prioritization and execution skills in a high-pressure environment.
- Willingness and ability to learn and apply new technologies.
- Experience with a consulting engineering firm strongly preferred.
- Structural, Civil, or Architectural technical degree preferred, with a focus on structural coursework or project experience.
- Must be able to commute to the Woodlands office several days per week.
