Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain detailed 3D structural models using Tekla Structures and SmartPLANT 3D with minimal supervision.
- Perform structural 3D modeling for structural steel frames, equipment support structures, access platforms, ladders, stairs, module support frames, and foundations as applicable.
- Generate comprehensive structural drawings, including general arrangement drawings, steel framing layouts, connection and detailing drawings, and material take-offs.
- Carefully coordinate with piping, equipment, electrical, and civil teams to resolve clashes and ensure proper clearances, access, and constructability.
- Support module-based design by incorporating transport, lifting, and erection considerations into the structural models and drawings.
- Participate in model reviews at key project stages (30%, 60%, 90%) and actively support clash detection and resolution.
- Ensure structural models comply with project specifications and applicable codes and standards, including AISC, AWS, and IBC.
- Maintain accurate model data and promptly incorporate engineering changes and revisions.
- Deliver design outputs in alignment with project schedules, milestones, and quality requirements.
- Support continuous improvement of structural modeling workflows, Tekla Structures templates, and SmartPLANT 3D integration.
- Affirmatively assist in the development and enforcement of structural modeling standards, guidelines, and best practices.
- Collaborate effectively with global and regional engineering teams, including external partners and vendors, to ensure cohesive project execution.
- Protect confidential and proprietary company information at all times.
- Manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively in a fast-paced project environment while meeting deadlines.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience as a Structural Designer or Drafter in industrial or power plant structural design and modeling, including experience supporting gas turbine, power plant, or heavy industrial projects.
- At least 5 years of experience with Tekla Structures and structural steel design.
- Strong proficiency in Tekla Structures for structural steel modeling and detailing.
- Solid understanding of industrial structural steel systems, including equipment support and module framing.
- Knowledge of constructability principles and erection sequencing for industrial and power plant structures.
- Understanding of applicable structural and industrial standards such as AISC, AWS, and IBC, as well as project-specific specifications.
- Ability to interpret engineering calculations, design criteria, and vendor information and translate them into accurate models and drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities applied to structural design and coordination challenges.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines in a dynamic environment.
