Responsibilities
- Provide customized project-specific design services, with a focus on Contech's bridge products.
- Prepare engineering drawings and calculations, review project plans, and develop project solutions to assist the sales team in integrating Contech's products into site plans.
- Perform structural analysis and design of bridge elements, including superstructures, foundations, and retaining walls.
- Work effectively with in-house engineers, CAD Techs, Sales/Marketing Team members, and outside engineers to specify and design Contech's products.
- Offer technical support to the Operations/Manufacturing Team to ensure proper fabrication of products.
- Cook up with field sales staff and the manufacturing team to address questions and concerns regarding product design, manufacturing, and installation.
- Provide technical advice to the sales/marketing team and external consultants.
- Review design work produced by other team members to ensure accuracy.
- Inspect and observe in-house fabrication for adherence to design drawings.
- Maintain engineering standards, policies, best practices, and procedures.
- Help develop training programs and aids for products.
- Aid in the development and writing of technical papers and product literature needed for the support and promotion of Contech's products.
- Have a working knowledge of governing specifications covering products and contribute to the development and modification of such specifications.
- May serve on technical committees to develop these specifications.
- Maintain knowledge and certifications in the civil/structural engineering field.
- This includes attending industry trade shows, continuing education courses, and seminars, as necessary.
- Occasional travel to job sites to provide technical support, consultation, and evaluation related to product installations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; strong preference for Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis.
- PE with a minimum of 2-years of reviewing and sealing work.
- 6-10 years of experience in structural steel or bridge design.
- Working knowledge of MS Office and Excel required.
- Experience with AUTOCAD, finite element analysis, and/or structural analysis software preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain strong team and client relationships.
- High-level analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
