Job Description

The Structural Design Engineer is responsible for designing transit-related projects and buildings in accordance with relevant codes and standards complying with the project requirements. Throughout the design process, they produce technical reports, drawings, bills of quantities and design specifications covering all the project lifecycle. The Structural Design Engineer can also coordinate and supervise structural designs, ensuring that the solution is optimized, safe and compliant with the relevant codes.

This Structural Engineer will be an employee of the autonomous design company ADENA, a subsidiary of ACCIONA Engineering.

Required Skills And Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (BSc/BEng)
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in design-build environment with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrable relevant project experience equivalent to a high level of qualification for Structural Area Classes/Company Classifications in DOT agencies, specifically in GDOT’s and NCDOT’s structural Area Classes.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required (preferably in GA, NC, TN and LA) with ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity in other states within a defined timeframe. PE California is an asset.
  • Experience signing and sealing structural drawings and ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Experience engaging directly with contractors and Federal and State transportation agencies (DOTs).
  • Collaborative approach focused on technical excellence, with the ability to guide and support younger engineers.
  • Capable of undertaking out-of-state trips or longer stays at client’s offices or as required in upcoming project assignments, within the U.S.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaborative risk evaluation with project teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic construction environment and adapt to evolving conditions.
  • Proficiency in functioning across multiple time zones while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams comprising individuals from various fields of expertise.
