Structural Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Design steel cold box structures, pipe racks, and other structural elements of process plants.
• Produce plan, section, and elevation drawings of structures with sufficient detail for vendor bid packages and vendor fabrication drawings.
• Perform stress analysis on structures to validate designs.
• Develop shipping and lifting requirements for equipment ranging from 5 to 500 metric tons.
• Make technical recommendations and review vendor drawings and specifications.
• Follow established AISC standards.
• Participate in departmental training programs/seminars and on-line training.
• Ensure projects comply with schedule and budgetary requirements.
• Work efficiently as part of a team with leadership and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Resolve technical project issues, reviewing and making quality recommendations.

Required Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized technical institute required.
• Proficiency in CADWorx 3D and AutoCAD or BricsCAD design software is required.
• Experience with cryogenic piping, cold boxes, and the Industrial Gases Industry is a plus.
• Experience with Robot, Tekla, and/or other industry standard structural design software.
• Experience with Hilti design software and RAM Connection software.
• Understanding of pipe stress and pipe supports.
• Basic computer literacy - Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Excellent organization and communication skills.
• Ability to function in a team environment across multiple disciplines.
• PE license a plus.
