About the Role
As a Structural Design Analyst, you will support design development starting from the concept phase through to design release, using FEA simulations to ensure durability and structural functionality of components and systems. You will provide technical solutions based on analysis results to develop optimal designs for products including Skid Steer, Compact Track Loader, Tractor Loader Backhoes, Wheel Loaders, Compact Loaders, Motor Graders, Crawlers, and Mini Excavators.
Responsibilities
- Support concept phase and final virtual validations of mechanical components and/or assemblies for construction machinery vehicles (e.g., SSL, CTL, WL, TLB).
- Perform structural (linear, non-linear, dynamic) simulations using FEA tools or calculation spreadsheets.
- Prepare FE models according to DA&S simulation procedures.
- Determine structural loads for FEA validation using specific analysis tools or hand calculations.
- Provide design proposals to the Engineering team to improve or optimize structural behavior of components/assemblies.
- Manage simulation tasks through the Integrated Validation Plan and CTS system.
- Execute simulations to validate components and/or systems using FEA tools, including:
- Static FE analysis (linear and non-linear, mainly isotropic materials).
- Modal, sinusoidal, and random vibration analysis.
- Weld fatigue analysis (spot weld, seam weld).
- Parent material strength and durability analysis.
- Durability analysis using specific fatigue codes (e.g., NCode).
- Structural optimization.
- Strain gauging and accelerometer test data processing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar field.
- Three or more years of prior work experience in nonlinear FEA and fatigue analysis of on-road or off-road vehicle components.
- Three or more years of experience with:
- Abaqus and Abaqus Explicit FEA software.
- Hypermesh and Optistruct software.
- Fatigue software such as NCode.
- Mechanical principles, kinematics, structural materials, and standard vehicle components.
- Three or more years of industrial experience in construction, agricultural, automotive, or aerospace business.
Preferred Qualifications
- Positive attitude with a strong drive to achieve goals.
- Ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency in new global processes and systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of general computer applications (e.g., Excel, Word).
- Experience in structural design, rubber component design, ride quality, and NVH is a plus.
- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) issues, problems, and observations.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-discipline teams as well as being a strong individual contributor.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision while managing multiple projects and tasks.
Pay
The annual salary for this role is USD $74,625.00 - $114,425.00 plus any applicable bonus. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as skill, experience, and qualifications for the role.
