About the role
The Bridges and Structures Team at Stantec is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer in our Albany NY office. This role offers opportunities to contribute to projects in New York State and across North America.
Responsibilities
- Oversee design and preparation of contract documents for new bridges and rehabilitation of existing bridges
- Perform load rating analysis of existing bridges
- Perform design calculations, drawings, and details for various bridge design projects
- Mentor and monitor junior structural engineers
- Review shop drawings produced by fabricators and detailers, calculations performed by other engineers, coordinate with design team, site visits to address site issues and verify existing conditions, and respond to request for information
- Assist with the management and administration of projects, including budget tracking, developing staffing requirements, coordinating quality reviews, and assuring compliance with Health, Safety, Security and Environment fundamentals
- Coverage with clients as required to ensure projects are delivered on time and on budget
Requirements
- Licensed Professional Engineer with license in the State of NY
- Proficiency in STAAD, CSI, SAP, AASHTOWare BrR and other structural analysis and design software
- Understanding design codes and agency standards such as AASHTO, ASCE, AISC and ACI
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Leadership and team building skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the structural design and analysis of bridges and other transportation structures
- Professional Engineering license or the ability to get on in NY
Skills
- Experience with AutoCAD, Microstation and Open Bridge Modeler
- Knowledge of design codes and agency standards
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
