Strength and Conditioning Specialist - Athletics

Responsibilities

  • Design and oversee year-round strength and conditioning programs tailored to assigned sports teams, focused on enhancing athletic performance and reducing injury risk.
  • Develop and implement testing protocols to evaluate the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Instruct users on proper weightlifting, speed, agility, and conditioning techniques with appropriate progressions in the weight room.
  • Teach weightlifting and conditioning techniques, incorporating suitable progressions, in Physical Education classes.
  • Administer rehabilitative and reconditioning programs as prescribed by the Athletic Training staff.
  • Pursue self-directed learning and professional development actively.
  • Oversee daily weight room operations, team training schedules, and ensure safety and risk management.
  • Ensure operational safety and maintenance of equipment.
  • Assist with daily cleaning and upkeep of equipment and facility.

Requirements

  • Minimum of Salary Range*: $65,000 - Compensation is commensurate with qualifications.

  • Position Details: Work Year: 12 months; School Year: 2025-2026; Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Before/After-hours and weekend work as required; Schedule may vary based on operational needs.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; preferably in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certified strength and conditioning specialists (CSCS).
  • CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
  • Demonstrated ability to instruct and model safe, developmentally appropriate lifting techniques and fundamental movements, with a deep understanding of skill progressions, motor learning strategies, and physical development principles for youth athletes.
  • Skilled in designing and implementing age-appropriate, year-round training programs utilizing periodization principles, with knowledge of the Youth Physical Development Model to support athletic and developmental goals.
  • Knowledge of health and safety education strategies, emergency procedures, and experience in managing the school’s Emergency Action Plan.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using Windows, Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google applications.
  • Ability to learn how to use programs and applications utilized in the weight room and/or athletics.
  • Proven experience with effective communication skills to interact with students, coaches, administrators, and parents professionally.
