Herzog Transit Services, Inc. is seeking Streetcar Technicians in Santa Ana, CA to join our team.

Pay

$26.42 per hour.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties in conformance with appropriate safety and security standards.
  • Interface with OC Streetcar Authority representatives and passengers.
  • Participate in the hazard identification and resolution process.
  • Attend all briefings for assignments and instructions.
  • Bring all necessary equipment to complete designated tasks to assigned locations.
  • Assist technicians with preventative maintenance and safety inspections on streetcars.
  • Assist technicians in responding to emergency recovery of streetcars on the main line.
  • Assist technicians with the preventative maintenance of workshop equipment.
  • Assist MOW Department with preventative maintenance and safety inspections of track, switches, signals, OCS, TPSS, and highway grade crossing protection warning systems.
  • Assist technicians in the repair of station platform equipment.
  • Clean the maintenance shop, inspection pits and rail yard, ensuring all work areas and walkways are neat, clean, and free of tripping hazards.
  • Respond to incidents on-board the streetcar and at station platforms that require emergency cleaning.
  • Flagger certified / training required.
  • Trained/certified in yard train movement.
  • Operate forklifts, if trained and qualified.
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation, and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors.
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow instructions furnished in written and oral form.
  • Ability to understand and follow safety rules, work rules, and procedures.
  • Must be dependable, report to work at the scheduled time, and seldom be absent from work.
  • Dependable to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and conscientious about assignments.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, schedules, and overtime.
  • Ability to perform quality work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and equipment of the mechanics trade.
  • Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the mechanic's trade.
  • Ability to assist in the maintenance and repair of all types of equipment from Streetcars to facility repairs.
  • Ability to use and care for tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of such equipment.
  • Able to work around high voltage.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and endorsements as required per position.
  • Pass pre-employment DOT physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety-sensitive nature of this position.
  • Pass and maintain a DOT medical evaluation to drive a Herzog commercial vehicle.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times.

  • Regularly lift weight up to 75 pounds to a height of up to 56 inches.
  • Regularly carry weight up to 75 pounds to a distance up to 100 feet.
  • Regularly push/pull up to 50 pounds for a distance up to 50 feet.
  • Regularly grasp or squeeze with forces up to 40 pounds.
  • Regularly ascend and descend a 10-step ladder with up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequently climb on/off equipment.
  • Work in a confined access/space environment with a height of 12 inches and a width of 24 inches.
  • Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight.
  • Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1 mile.
  • Regularly lay on back for extended periods of time.
  • Regularly reach overhead while holding tools.
  • Must be able to be aware of surroundings and follow verbal commands while being exposed to moderately loud noises on a daily basis.
  • Must be able to adapt to various temperature extremes including but not limited to heat, cold, moisture, and wind.
  • Must be able to work in a safety-sensitive work environment.
  • Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position.
  • Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position.
