About the Role
This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, replacing, and maintaining photocells and street-lighting equipment to ensure reliable operation of roadway and outdoor lighting systems. The ideal candidate has electrical or street-lighting experience, is comfortable working outdoors and at heights, and takes pride in completing quality work safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Commitment to safety, verifying and complying with all safety requirements, company policies, and county/city requirements.
- Perform photocell testing, replacement, and troubleshooting on street-light fixtures.
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits, wiring, fuses, connectors, and lighting controls.
- Use a voltage meter/multimeter and other electrical testing equipment.
- Identify and report damaged or unsafe poles, fixtures, wiring, and equipment.
- Operate bucket trucks, lifts, and other company vehicles/equipment as authorized.
- Complete work orders and document repairs accurately.
- Accurately document completed work, job site conditions, and materials used.
- Communicate effectively with dispatches, supervisors, and customers to report progress, issues, and resolutions.
- Follow all applicable safety regulations and company/customer-specific protocols.
- Set poles, run cable, connect wires, and install related hardware per system specifications.
- Ensure all necessary materials, tools, and equipment are secured and transported to the job site.
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2 years of experience.
- Digger Derrick certification is required.
- Experience setting up 45 Ft. concrete poles is required.
- Preferred Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a field environment and routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Work may occur in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.
- Physically active role with lifting required; must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships.
- Precise hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
