About the Role
The STREAM/Robotics Teacher will develop and administer school curriculum, promote a safe and conducive learning environment, and translate lesson plans into engaging learning experiences. The role involves ongoing assessment of student learning, individualized instruction, and fostering responsible digital citizenship. The position is full-time on a contract basis, with a work year spanning August to May, including some additional training days.
Responsibilities
- Develops and administers school curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives.
- Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional materials, translating them into learning experiences.
- Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual needs, including students with special needs.
- Instructs students in responsible digital citizenship and other subject matters as specified by applicable laws.
- Acquires professional knowledge through seminars, workshops, or research.
- Maintains accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for student activities, achievement, and attendance.
- Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
- Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Coordinates with staff to evaluate and assess curriculum, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
- Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and supplies, maintaining inventory records.
- Administers standardized tests in accordance with testing programs.
- Follows and upholds all COVID protocols set forth by the school's plan.
- Maintains record-keeping of student learning and performance.
- Oversees classroom order and behavioral management to ensure safety.
- Supervises students in non-instructional duties such as lunch and carpool.
- Assists in morning, lunch, or afternoon duty as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Texas State Teaching Certification.
- Receive and pass a criminal background check clearance.
- Trained and verified in Safe Haven child abuse awareness.
- Committed to the philosophy of Catholic school and value-oriented education.
- Current Catechist Certificate or working towards one.
- Able to handle both face-to-face and remote online teaching.
Qualifications
- State Certification in the appropriate grade level preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related discipline.
- Master's Degree in a related area preferred.
- Prior teaching experience will be considered.
Skills
- Knowledge of current teaching methods, educational pedagogy, and differentiated instruction.
- Knowledge of school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and action plan formulation.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work effectively.
- Strong communication skills with students and parents, both in person and through electronic means.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
