Strategist
About the role
The Strategist at Mayo Clinic works on government policy, contributing to strategies for sites, shields or departments and other corporate priorities. They track legislative and regulatory developments, translate policy shifts into strategic implications, and help leaders anticipate how government action affects Mayo Clinic priorities.
Responsibilities
- Ensures deliverables are met and outcomes achieved for the assigned projects.
- Partners across multidisciplinary teams to drive innovation, challenge the status quo and implement solutions and programs to advance priorities.
- Provides strategic direction through analysis and insights to drive strategic choices and the planning process in line with the long-term strategic plan, including the policy and advocacy agenda.
- Serves as a change agent, championing agile ways of thinking and working to enable teams and people for success.
- Drives excellence in financial acumen, communication (verbal, written and presentations), business and strategic planning, performance monitoring and reporting.
- Supports strong customer relationships with both internal and external partners, including government and regulatory stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience, or master's degree.
- Experience in strategic intelligence, strategic planning, strategy development, government or public policy, legislative and regulatory analysis, government relations, client services, business or management consulting, project management, operations, market analysis or health care.
- Working knowledge of the federal and state legislative and regulatory process, including how health policy is developed, enacted and implemented.
- Ability to translate complex policy developments into clear strategic implications for senior leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive/confidential/proprietary information.
- Strong alignment with Mayo's core values.

- Ability to evaluate and improve upon existing processes and develop/implement new processes where appropriate.
Qualifications
- Direct experience in government policy, public policy or government relations, ideally within health care or an academic medical center.
- Exemption Status Exempt.
- Compensation Detail: $107,452.80 - $150,425.60 / year.
