Strategic Systems Engineer
About the Role
The Red Gate Group is seeking a Strategic Systems Engineer to support a Department of Defense intelligence customer. You will translate operational needs and technical requirements into rigorous engineering artifacts for a joint intelligence capability while maintaining credibility with senior military and civilian leadership. The role involves developing engineering artifacts and architectural views that communicate system structure, behavior, and context using the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF).
Responsibilities
- Develop engineering artifacts and architectural views using DoDAF and UAF.
- Decompose complex operational problems and identify technical solutions.
- Assess trade‑offs between competing approaches and ask probing questions to uncover unstated requirements.
- Synthesize inputs from stakeholders across the Services and Combatant Commands.
- Support capability‑based planning and analysis of alternatives throughout the defense acquisition lifecycle.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of systems engineering experience, including recent experience within the last 2 years (experience requirement cannot be met through education or certifications).
- Master’s degree in a related field, **or** one of the following in its place:
- Associate’s degree in a related field plus 4 additional years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 2 additional years of relevant experience.
- 6 additional years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency with DoDAF and UAF.
- Active TS/SCI clearance with a current CI polygraph.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler or similar model‑based systems engineering tools.
- Understanding of the defense acquisition process and how architecture products inform capability analysis.
