STRATEGIC SOURCING SPECIALIST

Job Description

The Strategic Sourcing Specialist will identify, source, and secure the company's product library of building products globally. Key responsibilities include benchmarking the industry, identifying and leveraging new suppliers, establishing supplier selection criteria, negotiating agreements, and creating reports on supplier performance.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing materials used in building construction, including steel, sheathing products, wall coverings, insulation, electrical, and plumbing products.
• Experience with strategic sourcing, procurement best practices, and supplier management best practices.
• Strong international sourcing experience with a focus on building materials, both standard and customized.
• Knowledge of legal terminology and language related to supplier and vendor agreements and contracts.
• Experience with importation of goods to the US, including understanding customs, duties, tariffs, anti-dumping, and product certification requirements.
• Negotiation skills, excellent communication, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
• Demonstrated ability to identify business process issues and drive process improvement.
• Flexible approach to working hours due to the global nature of the company.

Job Type

Full-time, office based

Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree
• At least five (5) years purchasing/strategic sourcing experience
• Three (3) years’ relevant operations/supply chain experience
• Five (5) years of experience in procurement/sourcing of building materials from, and managing suppliers with factories in China and Asia
