Strategic Sourcing Specialist

As the Strategic Sourcing Specialist, you'll play a critical role in connecting Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Suppliers to support the successful sourcing of materials, components, and outsourced manufacturing solutions. You'll lead sourcing initiatives from Request for Quotation (RFQ) through supplier selection and production implementation while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver cost-effective, high-quality solutions that support our customers and manufacturing operations.
What You'll Do
- Lead sourcing projects from RFQ development through supplier selection and implementation.
- Prepare and distribute complete RFQ packages, including engineering drawings, material specifications, Bills of Material (BOMs), assembly instructions, hardware requirements, annual demand estimates, and recommended order quantities.
- Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Planning, Purchasing, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to gather technical and commercial requirements.
- Research, identify, evaluate, and recommend qualified suppliers based on quality, capability, cost, capacity, and delivery performance.
- Analyze supplier quotations, lead times, pricing, and sourcing risks to support strategic decision-making.
- Cook up supplier communications, technical questions, quote clarifications, and follow-up activities throughout the sourcing process.
- Maintain sourcing documentation, engineering changes, BOM data, and supplier records within company systems.
- Monitor supplier performance, inventory levels, purchase orders, and delivery metrics following sourcing implementation.
- Support new product introductions, engineering changes, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier optimization, process improvements, and operational efficiencies.
- Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to support long-term business objectives.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Three (3) or more years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, purchasing, supplier management, or manufacturing.
- Experience managing supplier RFQs and sourcing projects within a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, Bills of Material (BOMs), and technical documentation.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, sourcing principles, and supply chain processes.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with Epicor, Vault, Inventor, or Bluebeam is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities with internal and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
- Continuous improvement mindset with strong problem-solving skills and business acumen.
