Strategic Sourcing Manager
About the role
The Strategic Sourcing Manager will own the sourcing of hardware, components, and commodities that go into Standard Bots' robots. Reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain, this role involves building and managing category strategies, running RFQ/RFP processes, negotiating supplier contracts, and collaborating across departments.
Responsibilities
- Sourcing & Supplier Management: Own category strategies for key hardware and commodities, including mechanical, electromechanical, and electronic components. Run end-to-end RFQ/RFP processes, scope, evaluate, negotiate, and award, with leadership visibility. Identify and qualify new suppliers, focusing on domestic and USMCA-friendly sources. Conduct supplier business reviews covering delivery, quality, cost trajectory, and capacity. Drive year-over-year cost reductions through volume leverage, design-to-cost collaboration, and competitive re-sourcing.
- Contracts & Compliance: Negotiate and manage commercial agreements such as supply contracts, NDAs, equipment loans, and software licenses. Track contract renewals, price escalations, and milestone obligations proactively. Support international procurement and trade compliance as needed.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering on component selection and supplier readiness during NPI. Collaborate with finance on COGS projections, tooling capex, and savings tracking. Maintain sourcing dashboards and own the supplier onboarding and approval process.
Requirements
3-6 years in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain with hands-on experience negotiating supplier contracts. Demonstrated negotiation experience, including leading commercial negotiations on price, payment terms, and contract language. Comfortable with Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models, cost breakdowns, and spend analysis in Excel or equivalent. A startup or high-growth mindset, building the process where it doesn't exist and moving without waiting for full direction. Nice to have: experience sourcing for a hardware or robotics product in a manufacturing environment, familiarity with USMCA, ITAR, or other trade compliance frameworks relevant to industrial hardware, exposure to NPI processes and the intersection of engineering and supply chain during new product development, background working with contract manufacturers or managing tooling capex.
