The Strategic Sourcing Manager is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies that ensure supply continuity, cost competitiveness, supplier quality, and risk mitigation across direct material categories. The role has a primary focus on electronics and technology-related commodities, including PCBAs, electronic components, semiconductors, SSDs, servers, computing hardware, and cable harnesses.

What You Can Expect In This Role (Job Responsibilities)

• Develop and execute category strategies for electronics and technology-related commodities aligned with business objectives.
• Conduct market research, spend analysis, and supplier segmentation to identify sourcing opportunities.
• Lead supplier selection, qualification, and negotiation for cost, quality, and delivery performance.
• Manage long-term supplier agreements and ensure compliance with procurement policies and standards.
• Collaborate with engineering on material selection, cost optimization, and design-for-manufacturability initiatives.
• Monitor raw material market trends and establish cost mitigation strategies, including hedging or alternate sourcing.
• Track supplier KPIs (quality, cost, delivery) and drive continuous improvement and risk management programs.
• Support cross-functional projects such as new product introduction, value engineering, and process improvement initiatives.
• Aid in placing purchase orders.

What We Are Looking For (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)

• Required Experience: 6-9 years of procurement, category, strategic sourcing management experience, preferably in electronics and technology-related commodities, including PCBAs, electronic components, semiconductors, SSDs, servers, computing hardware.
• Experience with supplier negotiations, contract management, and strategic sourcing in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven record of achieving cost savings, process improvements, and supplier performance enhancement.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Strong knowledge of electronics and technology-related commodities, including PCBAs, electronic components, semiconductors, SSDs, servers, computing hardware.
• Understanding of cost drivers, manufacturing processes, and quality systems for metals and plastics.
• Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and sourcing tools (Oracle, SAP, or similar).
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and supplier relationship management skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across multiple functional areas.
• Results-driven, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field required.

Pay

The estimated salary range for this position is: $93,000-$125,000. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus plan, subject to the rules governing the plan.
