Strategic Sourcing / Contract Specialist
About the role
The Strategic Sourcing / Contract Specialist is responsible for identifying and securing strategic cost saving through effective analytical skills, sourcing and contract negotiations for the Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) network. This role handles the RFP process and protocols within the organization for business owners to provide significant cost savings across the HMH network. The role completes an analysis of purchased supplies and services within a multi-facility procurement environment.
Responsibilities
- Identify and present comprehensive savings analysis through contract negotiations utilizing current GPO (Group Purchasing Organization) or direct negotiations with a manufacturer/supplier.
- Provide education and support along with the development of RFP (request for proposal) with key individuals and/or departments. Assists key individuals and/or departments with selection of manufacturer/supplier regarding final contract/price negotiations through execution of RFP (request for proposal).
- Sources and negotiates core products through analytical, negotiation and interpersonal skills with multiple manufacturer/suppliers.
- Proactively finds alternative manufacturer/suppliers quickly during pending threat/unforeseen crisis.
- Identifies, solicits, facilitates, and secures manufacturer/suppliers domestically and globally across a wide range of categories to meet or exceed all supply chain initiatives.
- Meets with manufacturer/supplier sales representatives to learn about new products and services, including quarterly business reviews.
- Communicates new savings opportunities via Value Analysis team, as well as HMH organization.
- Works collaboratively with key individual(s) and/or departments to identify and initiate value driven products, projects, and services for cost savings opportunities per department or across entire organization.
- Ensures pricing integrity and accuracy by working with Pricing and Data Integrity team to ensure all current pricing is maintained in our ERP system.
- Works with Legal team to ensure fully executed contracts are uploaded and maintained in our contract management system.
- Responsible for maintaining additions, renewals, deletions, updates, and price changes within contracts for HMH systems.
- Aids buying team in resolving price discrepancies.
- Affixes with legal counsel to ensure all details for procurement are outlined and achieved during negotiations.
- Makes weekly meetings with management and team members to review daily workload status, projects, improvements of workflow (through positive recommendations and constructive feedback in striving for excellence), provides coaching and mentoring within team as well as department.
- Tracks all cost saving initiatives (monthly, quarterly, and yearly).
- Google platform user to analyze data: an ability to review categories as a whole and in detail by manufacturer/supplier, category, and subcategories.
- Procurement liaison to all departments regarding manufacturer/supplier contracts, products, and services.
- Understands the importance of HMH branding for all products and services.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Travel within HMH network as needed/required.
- Project management skills.
- Highly organized, ability to multitask, good time management skills for aggressive deadlines.
- Ability to adjust workload efforts based on new priorities assigned by management.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred
- Experience with Google.
Licenses and Certifications Required
- Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP) Certification at hire or obtained within 12 months of hire.

Compensation
Minimum rate of $97,011.20 Annually
