About the role
The Pima County Health Department seeks a skilled Public Health Program Intern to support the implementation of the strategic plan and workforce development efforts. This grant-funded position runs until October 29, 2027, and requires part-time hours (20–30 hours per week).
Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and monitoring of the department’s strategic plan, tracking progress, and preparing reports and presentations.
- Support department-wide performance improvement and ensure compliance with public health accreditation standards.
- Enhance the department’s learning environment by assessing employee desk procedures and supporting employee growth through training programs aligned with national public health standards.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a graduate degree program in Public Health, Health Policy, Epidemiology, or related fields.
- Bachelor's degree from a four-year institution.
- Experience facilitating group meetings, focus groups, community forums, and working in multi-disciplinary, multi-cultural, and multi-sectoral partnerships.
- Experience in leading/facilitating strategic planning in non-profit, public, private organizations/agencies.
- Experience in collaboration, developing, and maintaining intradepartmental relationships.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience in paraprofessional or professional administration.
- Experience with/knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, management, or business administration.
Skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
