Strategic Initiatives Analyst I

Responsibilities

• Support the development and deployment of GM Financial's strategic planning framework.
• Work cross-functionally to support strategic initiatives in the capacity of financial modeling and competitive intelligence research.
• Support business case development and lead investment analysis in evaluating new lines of business and/or strategic capabilities.
• Provide ongoing analytical and project support as initiatives move into execution.
• Support market assessment activities to evaluate new initiatives.
• Lead financial modeling workstreams.
• Manage competitive intelligence routines and tracking emerging risks and opportunities using competitive intelligence tools.
• Contribute to ongoing incubation of emerging business lines.

Qualifications

• Advanced in financial modeling and valuation in Excel.
• Creative self-starter with the ability to independently move projects forward, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Curious team player with a positive attitude in a results-driven environment.
• Strong commitment to timelines, collaboration, accuracy, and communication.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Additional Knowledge And Skills

• Working effectively within an AI enabled environment:
• Ability to use AI tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to support daily work.
• Experience in evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, compliance, and bias.
• Experience integrating AI into workflows to improve efficiency or insights.
• Familiarity with AI assisted research, summarization, and content generation.
• Understanding of responsible AI use, including ethics and data protection.

Education & Work Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field required.
• 1+ years of experience in strategic planning, strategic development or finance required.
• Financial modeling and valuation in Excel preferred.
