(STP) Assistant Program Director

About the Role

This position ensures the facility complies with State Department of Mental Health regulations (e.g., Title 22:72001 - 22:72713) and oversees the day-to-day operations of the unit. The role involves assisting the Program Director in managing facility operations, including emergency response and 24/7 on-call availability to ensure safety for residents, employees, and the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate and coordinate unit treatment groups, ensuring quality for forensic, clinical, and community integration goals.
  • Assist in group scheduling and ensure execution aligns with facility contracts and expectations.
  • Ensure Treatment Plans and Quarterly Assessments are completed per regulations, reviewing for quality, risk responsivity, and community integration.
  • Assist the Program Director in personnel administration, including hiring, scheduling, and policy enforcement.
  • Provide administrative supervision of Program Staff and Program Supervisors.
  • Coordinate assessments of referrals, admissions, and discharges, ensuring all documentation and transportation arrangements are completed.
  • Assist in coordinating resident testing for CFAP assessments (California Forensic Assessment Project).
  • Attend CONREP/DSH quarterly regional meetings in the absence of the Program Director.
  • Coordinate resident clinical meetings, including weekly staffings, Treatment Plan Development and Review, and Interdisciplinary Team Meetings.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines related to resident care and program needs.
  • Report unit affairs to the Administrator and Director of Nursing.
  • Perform crisis intervention as needed and other duties assigned by the Administrator and/or Program Director.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience working with mentally ill adults, preferably in a forensic mental health setting.
  • Completion of a Graduate Degree Program in Psychology or Social Work.
  • At least 1 year of Mental Health Supervisory experience.
  • Experience in the assessment and diagnosis of individuals with severe mental illness.
