Responsibilities
- Prepare stormwater regulations and administer same;
- Evaluates options prepares written recommendations for various public works projects including but not limited to, stormwater management, streets/roadways, drainage;
- Review and make recommendations on matters related to stormwater plans for new subdivisions and other developments;
- Perform inspections associated with grading permits;
- Perform enforcement duties associated with grading permit sites;
- Perform inspections on non-grading permit related matters;
- Document and follow-up with inspections and complaints;
- Provide Education on water quality matters to the public;
- Aid the public on matters related to stormwater management and water quality;
- Act as the liaison with other stormwater related organizations within the county, state or region;
- Prepare stormwater regulations for adoption by the County Commission;
- Reviews, responds to, and resolves citizen inquiries or complaints regarding County services, construction projects or municipal public works problems;
- Performs difficult engineering computations such as determining quantities, horizontal and vertical roadway layouts, grading plans, water & wastewater designs, etc.
- May oversee work of drafters, technicians, and or survey crews;
- Works overtime as required;
- Subject to call-in for specific emergencies;
- Reports to work as scheduled and on time, even under inclement weather conditions;
- Administers construction/maintenance contracts by performing on-site inspections, specification interpretations, and field adjustments, and overall project coordination with contractors, utilities, and Municipalities;
- Prepares and administers TDOT local programs transportation grants and agreements;
- Inspects or oversees the inspection of County and private projects;
- Performs engineering computations such as determining quantities, horizontal and vertical roadway layouts, grading plans, and roadway maintenance;
- Reviews, responds to, and resolves citizen inquiries or complaints regarding County services, construction projects, or citizen complaints;
- Performs field surveying and drafting/CADD duties;
- Provides information to developers and their engineers, architects, planners, and contractors regarding engineering and development projects;
- Prepares technical reports and studies and gives presentations;
- and Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Possess knowledge of departmental practices and systems;
- Skillfully use computers, printers, and other office technology; including highly technical computer applications such as GIS and/or CAD;
- Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
- Routinely maintain tactful and professional conversations with others; include, while being confronted with controversial situations;
- Communicate effectively;
