Stuart, VA – Onsite position.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Overtime may be required as needed.
Dress Code & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Steel‑toe boots are required.
- Jeans (long pants) and a T‑shirt without inappropriate words or pictures are permitted.
- All other PPE is provided.
- If the worker wears eyeglasses, side shields are required (not supplied by the client).
- Local travel may be required; client vehicles may be driven and a motor vehicle record (MVR) check will be performed.
Position Overview
The role emphasizes safety with a “Zero Harm” goal. The Stores Attendant‑B will support material accountability, operate equipment, and assist the Material Services organization in both indoor and outdoor environments, including extreme weather conditions.
Responsibilities
- Control inventory, receive materials, and move material using appropriate equipment.
- Issue material under proper authorization and maintain related records.
- Check received material for quantity, identity, breakage, and condition; process receipt documentation.
- Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
- Identify, sort, and record returned material; place usable items in stock and non‑usable items in scrap containers.
- Operate computer terminals, printers, scanners, and other office equipment supporting the materials management system.
- Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage, including required shipping papers; handle hazardous materials (e.g., gasoline, oil, PCB‑containing oil, lead‑acid batteries) following safety and environmental procedures.
- Operate material‑handling equipment such as hand trucks, forklifts, low‑lift trucks, hoists, overhead cranes, order pickers, and other required devices.
- Assist supervisors with efficient storage, bin and rack rearrangement, and material location changes.
- Maintain adequate inventory levels through cycle counts and discrepancy adjustments with appropriate approval.
- Assist employees of equal or higher classification and perform related less‑skilled work as needed.
- Follow all company safety rules, operating regulations, and best practices.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one year experience in inventory control, material handling, warehousing, or a related field.
- Basic computer skills; experience with inventory management software (e.g., Maximo) and Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.
- Strong knowledge of logistics related to shipping and inventory relocation.
- Ability to perform basic math functions and maintain accurate records.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work independently.
- Physical ability to safely lift up to 70 lb and successful completion of the Physical Ability Test (PAT).
- Valid state driver’s license; if a Commercial Driver License (CDL) is required, it must be obtained within six months of hire.
- Ability to operate material‑handling equipment, including motorized forklifts and road vehicles.
Skills & Qualifications
- Inventory management and control.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and willingness to learn additional programs.
- Operation of heavy equipment (e.g., wheeloader, all‑terrain forklift, JLG telehandler) and familiarity with load capacities up to 16 k lb.
- Construction or yard experience (preferred).
- Safety‑focused mindset with zero‑harm orientation.
- Team‑oriented, motivated, dependable, respectful, cooperative, flexible, adaptable, and punctual.
