About the role
We are looking for safety-conscious candidates who can perform inventory control, receive and move materials, and operate equipment while adhering to policies and safety procedures. Ideal candidates are motivated, dependable, team-oriented, respectful, cooperative, flexible, adaptable, and punctual.
Work environments include both indoor and outdoor settings in all weather conditions. Most laydown yards are outdoors, exposing workers to heat and inclement weather. Heavy equipment operation experience is preferred, though training on specific equipment will be provided.
Responsibilities
- Issue material under proper authorization; process and file required records, including picking up, hauling, and delivering materials.
- Check received material for quantity, identity, breakage, and condition; initiate and process material receipt records.
- Report irregularities and abnormal conditions.
- Identify, sort, and record returned material; place usable material in stock and sort non-usable material into scrap containers.
- Operate computer terminals, printers, and office equipment (e.g., calculators, scanners) supporting materials management systems.
- Prepare and pack material for shipment or storage, including hazardous materials (e.g., gasoline, oil, lead-acid batteries) under safety and environmental procedures.
- Operate material handling equipment such as hand trucks, forklifts, hoists, overhead cranes, and order pickers.
- Assist in maintaining efficient storage of materials, including rearrangement of bins/racks and material location changes.
- Assist in maintaining adequate inventory levels through cycle counts and discrepancy adjustments.
- Support employees of equal or higher classification and perform similar or less skilled work.
- Adhere to Company safety rules, operating regulations, and practices.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of one year of experience in inventory control, material handling, warehousing, or related fields.
- Basic computer skills, including experience with inventory management software (e.g., Maximo) and Microsoft Excel/Word.
- Strong knowledge of logistics related to shipping and relocating inventory.
- Ability to perform basic math functions and work independently with good communication skills.
- Ability to safely lift up to 70 pounds; successful completion of the Physical Ability Test (PAT) is required.
- Valid State driver’s license. If a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required, it must be obtained within six months of hire.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment, including motorized forklifts and road vehicles.
- Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., Case 821 Wheeloader, JLG Telehandler) is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to relocate temporarily or permanently within a specific territory.
Dress Code & PPE
- Steel-toe boots (required).
- Jeans (long pants) and a T-shirt (no inappropriate words or pictures).
- All other PPE is provided, except side shields for eyeglasses (worker must provide their own).
- Some local travel may be required; client vehicles may be driven (MVR check required).
