Stores and Shops Salesclerk Floater

About the Role

The Salesclerk Floater is a versatile and reliable team member responsible for delivering outstanding customer service and supporting daily store operations at various retail locations as assigned. This role requires flexibility to travel to different stores on short notice to cover for employee absences, vacation, or high-volume periods. The ideal candidate has a strong sales and customer service background, is a quick learner, and can adapt to different teams and environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide sales and customer service support: Assist customers in multiple retail settings with purchases, product selection, and general inquiries.
• Process transactions: Accurately and efficiently operate the point-of-sale (POS) systems and handle various payment methods.
• Maintain the sales floor: Restock merchandise, arrange displays, and ensure a clean, tidy, and organized shopping environment at each location.
• Assist with inventory management: Support inventory counts, receive new merchandise, and help with stocking and pricing products as needed.
• Support with checking the websites to ensure that all merchandise has pictures of each product and is enabled to purchase online.
• Perform store opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and balancing, as needed.
• Maintain clear and positive communication with managers and team members at all assigned stores.
• Support special projects: Assist with tasks such as special events, new product launches, and seasonal promotions.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a customer-facing sales or retail position is required.
• Experience with POS systems is a plus.
• Proven ability to quickly learn new tasks and adapt to different work environments.
• Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Must be able to stand for long periods, walk throughout the store, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• A reliable personal vehicle and a clean driving record may be required for travel between locations.
• Experience in cash handling.
• High level of proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with taking pictures for websites and posting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience working closely or within a college or university.
• Experience with accounting system administration functions.

Physical Demands

• Standing for long periods of time with occasional sitting.
• Lifting/carrying of items not greater than 50 lbs.
