About the role
Manage overall storeroom responsibilities (onsite), reporting to the Mill Finance Manager. Direct supervisory responsibility for one union hourly employee.
Responsibilities
- Direct supervisory responsibility for one union hourly employee.
- Manage inventory optimization, including reorder points, stock movement, obsolescence, consignment and order-on-demand parts, offsite inventory, new item additions, and satellite inventory flow.
- Achieve financial objectives through disciplined metric management, opportunity identification, and targeted action planning.
- Support purchasing activities through the creation and execution of requisitions for storeroom and maintenance parts and supplies.
- Maintain proper inventory levels to ensure critical parts are available for asset maintenance and ongoing plant operations.
- Monitor vendor requisitions and inventory levels to maintain compliance with established min/max guidelines.
- Perform daily cycle counts, spot counts, and audits in compliance with inventory management requirements, including maintaining absolute value compliance.
- Oversee receiving, confirmation, and accurate and timely recording of receipts in the accounting systems and notify the requisitioner when items are received.
- Coordinate vendor repairs for storeroom and maintenance parts to support equipment reliability and plant operations.
- Generate savings through optimization of the storeroom/inventory management.
- Maintain a neat, orderly, and clean storeroom to support a safe work environment.
- Partner with the Maintenance Planner to support job kitting and ensure parts are available when needed.
- Understand and apply reorder point purchasing processes.
- Provide backup support to the Purchasing Manager.
- Identify and support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
- Maintain Storeroom security.
Requirements
- Previous inventory and storeroom experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders and lift up to 40 pounds unaided.
- Computer and Excel literate with ability to enter, update, and verify data accurately in databases and spreadsheets.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to summarize data and generate accurate reports.
