Summary

Under the general supervision of Distribution Manager and within established hospital and department policies and procedures, the Storeroom Clerk is based at the Cambridge Hospital campus but will float to the Somerville campus to cover for Vacations and Sick Leave. The employee performs various checking, receiving, and delivery duties in the handling of incoming and outgoing supplies, furniture, equipment, and materials.

Responsibilities

  • Receives, sorts, and stores incoming materials, supplies, etc.
  • Counts items to verify trucker’s bill-of-lading. Signs bill noting any discrepancies as required.
  • Transports items to the receiving area.
  • Delivers departmental purchases as directed.
  • Ensures proper custody and control of items while in transit.
  • Obtains signature of authorized persons for items delivered.
  • Receives daily requisitions for items to be issued from stock.
  • Fills requisitions as assigned, and delivers items as necessary.
  • Makes emergency delivery of items to hospital departments as requested.
  • Maintains necessary records.
  • Moves materials as necessary.
  • Reports all observed faulty equipment, defective materials, improper operation, or unusual conditions to proper supervisor.
  • Maintains Storeroom and Receiving area in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations.
  • Observes and promotes hospital policies and procedures.
  • Consistently supports the department’s team approach to provide quality services to its customers.
  • Par levels patient units daily.
  • Communicates effectively and works as part of a team.
  • Displays ability to get along with co-workers, other departments, and the public.
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Is flexible when changes occur within department and performs other related duties as required.
  • Uses computer to match incoming materials on packing slips with items already in computer to check packing slips for any backordered items.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
